#DesiGirl:  7 Fab Ways to Style a Basic White Kurti

I give you 5 different ways in which you can add some oomph to the otherwise “basic” white kurti.

  1. Daily Casual
Wake up for college or work with absolutely no clue about what to wear? Simply try wearing your white kurti with a pair of printed palazzos and some comfortable flats. A neutral-coloured sling bag with gold accessories completes this casual look. One cannot go wrong with this fun and trendy outfit for the day!

Tomboy

For those who don’t mind taking the risk to try out something new, this “tomboy” way of wearing a white kurti could work like a charm! All you need to do is wear it with a pair of black culottes, a long waistcoat and some sliders. This look is not only androgynous but also very effective!
Formal in white

A formal look in a white kurti? It is possible! Contrary to what one might think, a white kurti can work like magic when putting together a formal look, once teamed with a pair of white parallel trousers. To accessorize and enhance this look, you can add a statement necklace, embellished clutch and a pair of strappy heels.  Nothing can look classier than an all white ensemble!

That ’70s Vibe

With the ’70s trend back in full swing this spring/summer, a basic white kurti would make a perfect top for this kind of look. Nothing shouts “Boho” more than bell-bottom jeans, a loose printed kimono, and a brown suede sling bag with fringes. This is a casual day look, which you can further accessorize with some chunky earrings and hand accessories.

Modern Ethnic

Of course the safest way to wear a basic white kurti is the ethnic way. However, an indo-western approach may add a little more character to the look. Wear it with a bright-coloured maxi skirt, along with an ethnic embroidered or mirror-work jacket. This is a fun look and can also be accessorized with tribal statement jewellery.

Tuck It In

Wear your white kurta as a top by simply tucking it in. Tuck it into cigarette pants and add a blazer on top for a formal, office look or simply half-tuck it into a pair of jeans for some laid-back style. You can also knot the kuta to one side for a unique spin. Yes, it’s that easy!

A Summer Dress

Just slip on your long kurta sans any pants and pair with pretty heels or cute flats. Wearing your kurta as a dress can look unique and stylish and is such a great way to beat the summer heat. You can cinch it at the waist with a skinny belt if you like to bring some shape or add a bright scarf if it’s a plain kurta. Make sure you hem the side slits and you’re good to go!
